Farhadi to preside over jury at Zurich festival

The Oscar-winning Iranian director, Asghar Farhadi, has been named the president of a jury at the upcoming edition of the Zurich International Film Festival in Switzerland.

Farhadi will preside over the jury for the International Feature Film Competition at the 18th edition of the gala.

“We are delighted that the two-time Academy Award-winning Asghar Farhadi is returning to the ZFF to preside over the Feature Film Competition jury,” Christian Jungen, artistic director of the Zurich Film Festival, said.

“Our competitions are committed to promoting new talent, so it’s an encouragement to all participants that the juries are presided over by such inspiring greats of international auteur cinema,” Jungen added.

Farhadi’s movies 'A Separation’ (2011) and ‘The Salesman’ (2016) won Oscars for best foreign-language film.

He was a member of the jury at the 2022 ediiton of the Cannes Film Festival in France.

The upcoming edition of the Zurich event will kick off on September 22 and run until October 2.
